GT5 Thoughts ???

yep Mac your spot on.  Will certainly have a look into this soon as the girlfriend keeps wanting me to record movies for her and i have to keep breaking her poor little heart and tell her there is only enough room for me to record my UFC this week 

Back to GT5, i may have been a touch premature with my verdict.  Yes maybe i got caught up in all the hype and was expecting a world beater, while it certainly aint that, it does have lots of potential.  The more im playing it the more its growing on me, the graphics were always awesome but the gameplay was letting it down.  I have now turned off all the assistance in the cars and have now added the steering wheel and it is a much more enjoyable game.

Just read that article and i have to say that is brilliant (even though would have been nice to know that beforehand before i start cursing how bad the game is  ).

A wheel is a must for any racing sim if you wan the immersion & accuracy (e.g. try the go-karts with the wheel, it feels really accurate and just like my bucks party go-kart session).

Yeah I'm enjoying it more also. Spewing I didn't get to play much over the weekend (was out & about). However one new criticism is that the  PS Eye head Tracking only works in Arcade Mode. WTF is with that (i wonder if that's another unlock feature?)

Also if I can't get my NAT3 connection issue sorted I'm going to struggle to get some online action going with you guys.

After much f'ing around I finally have this bloody modem bridged and proper PPPoE through the new router, and most importantly................ NAT2 connection on the PS3. 

Guys we are definitely going to have organise a bit of OzForces GT5 online fun.

You're right mate. I was just doing license tests (trying to get some more golds) while waiting for your reply so I didn't have a room going. Won't be on tonight but maybe Wednesday night (but will be on for hours Saturday arvo).

I have to add, I am really really enjoying this game now. It's depth is really starting to show and I'm enjoying the physics more and more. Still some shadowing/screen tearing graphical issues but otherwise I'd def recommend.

I think if it was played on a $2000 PC it would flawless rather than a $500 PS3 

The online racing had zero lag, unless an overseas player joined but only he lagged and didn't affect the rest of us.

yeah cant justify buying the console for 1 game. there is a rumour it will come out on pc as the only other platform. i can wait and hope i suppose:)

I have a feeling that rumour might be wishful thinking. I really can't see Sony allowing this being released on anything else. I'm sure their contract with Polyphony will be air-tight.

Mont don't try to justify the purchase of the console for just one game, justify it for;
Blu-Ray Player
3D Movies/Games Ready (not that I have a 3D TV)
Play TV
Move (your kids will love it and so will you as better games come out)
VidZone
Mubi
Hi-Def Media Centre
AND GT5 WOOHOO 
+ other Awesome games

you dont need decent ai to race when you race in leagues, you get human ai 

my mate[ traumas brother] does have it but i dont know if hes connected to the net.

I rekon its pretty kewl, supports my logitech momo force wheel that i bought waaaaay back when rfactor poped up around these parts. Even chucked together a little stand for it so i can us it all on the lounge... just need a USB extension tho...

A games never gona be like actually getting behind the wheel of a race car, but this is prety sweet, the eye candy is to die for...
